the normal, something not easily explained by current theories. How does paranormal activity happen? A better question might be, what do people normally report as paranormal activity. The answer here
appears to be apparitions, voices, shadows-any phenomena that they cannot explain. Does this activity actually exist? Yes, it seems that there is sufficient evidence of such activity to regard it
as fact. One group in Oklahoma takes a very practical approach to the subject: they "look for evidence and happenings they cannot explain and ... [present] it to the people
being haunted so they can make up their own minds" (Hale 36). This is the same technique used by the investigators on the popular TV program "Ghost Hunters." Does life
after death exist? This is impossible to answer with any degree of certainty. But in the opposing Viewpoints series, specifically the volume dealing with life after death, Joe Nickell argues
that apparitions are figments of the imagination and that death is final (Nickell). He says flatly: "There is no credible scientific evidence that the dead return to haunt the place
