Doing direct interviews is outside the scope of this tutoring service; however, the following background information on one of the most successful para-church organizations of all time, the Campus Crusade for Christ, will undoubtedly mirror the answers of a leader from this organization. Campus Crusade for Christ is a "worldwide, interdenominational Christian evangelism and discipleship organization" (Rivera). One of the largest Christian organizations in the world, Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) staffs more than 27,000 full-time employees and relies on the efforts of 225,000 trained volunteers who work on campuses in 190 countries (Rivera). While this organization is huge, with 70 different types of ministries operating worldwide, it is also highly decentralized with creativity generated from the "bottom up" (Rivera). Stephen Douglass, the new national president who took over CCC founder Bill Bright in 2001, says that several years ago, the US campus ministry contacted 170 campus directors and asked them about strategies that they were using on campus. Douglass reports that "They gave us about 450 ideas, and no more than five of those were cooked up nationally" (Rivera). This Orlando, Florida organization grew by 8 percent in its revenues in 2004 and 2005, which shows substantial financial health for a non-profit (Rivera). According to the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), the CCC was founded in 1953, and has been a charter member of the ECFA since 1979.
