of year, much of the staff would either take vacation or call in sick because of the pleasant summer weather. This meant Arthur had to rely on a temporary workforce,
but this had its problems as well. For one thing, turnover was very high. For another thing, although Arthur had attempted to keep temporary personnel on call for
when he needed them, this was not a successful method either. In order to help Arthur with his problem, the suggestion here
would be to assign a mentor to each temporary employee. That mentor could be a permanent employee who also works on the docks. But whoever that mentor is,
even if the temporary employee is, job for one day, that mentor would stick with that employee. The mentor would basically help
that employee understand procedures, provide assistance in the event of any questions or problems and give them an idea of who they would report to (Foley, 1998).
Why is mentorship so important in the situation? In order to answer this question, we need to first examine the feelings of the temporary
employee when he/she approaches the job. For the most part, temporary employees are not considered part of the permanent staff, and are
treated as such. In other words, they are considered expendable because they wont necessarily be around for the long haul. Because of that, many temporary employees are put
