in the hoopla about Google and censorship is that the Internet is already helping China reach out to the world, and vice versa.
China, as major players in the global economy, can make good use of the Internet. The businesses within China can use the Internet to communicate and to help manage
supply chains effectively. Were already seeing the start of this. Within the country, Internet advertising alone has seen some terrific growth - in 2006 alone the revenue of Internet advertising
in the country jumped close to 49% from 2005, clocking in at $630 million (Wang et al, 2009). It was anticipated that
the Beijing Olympics would likely have more of an impact on that total as well (Wang et al, 2009). Furthermore, as the market continues to grow, more and more players
are jumping in, which is leading to greater diversity of online content and advertising (Wang et al, 2009). Speaking of the Olympics, thanks to televised content and the Internet, millions
upon millions of people were able to access a variety of information about Beijing and China. All of this information was positive, which helps Chinas standing in the eyes of
the world. Based on the advertising figure we mentioned above, and based on the fact that more and more people in China are
