isnt just a car-maker; Porsche also sells a brand, and a way of living. The Porsche brand is primarily known as a sports car with style. While the product has
the power and velocity of a race car, it has the design and comfort of a luxury car. This differentiation and distinction has led to a company that manufactures cars
for customers who are extraordinarily loyal and very aware of the status of owning and driving a Porsche. Porsche was launched in
the 1930s by Ferdinand Porsche. During the companys close to 70 years, it came up with the Volkswagen Beetle prototype, came close to washing out in the 1990s, then had
a resurgence which sees it in its current position today, as a company that is certain of its niche and market, and that takes great care and invests a large
number of resources in continuing to cater to that market. The firms strategy is pretty straightforward; it does well in the
small amount it produces (something like 100,000 cars a year). It excels in one niche - sports cars - and has made a name for itself on the racing circuit.
In the operations, the company has also excelled, cutting back to lean manufacturing habits that have involved outsourcing and strategic partnerships. Porsche
