are unanimous in that the current economic situation is in pretty dire straits. The Democrats, on their agendas page, focuses on the need for reforming the tax code, pushing forward
the foreclosure prevention program recently enacted by Congress and reforming bankruptcy laws so as to "restore balance between lender and homeowner rights" (Economic Stewardship, 2009). Also interesting to note is
that the party (according to its page) is trying to work to crack down on fraudulent brokers, while passing a homeowner rights bills and to "invest in financial literacy" (Economic
Stewardship, 2009). In short, the Democratic Party is trying to reform the institutions that got us into the current financial mess were in, rather than asking some of the homeowners
to take responsibility for the future (as in, hiring a lawyer, doing research, and so on). Jobs creation and spending to boost the economy is the way the DNC goes.
The Republican Partys website is also truly interesting as the most recent information it has on its agenda is from 2008 - and
it focuses on the platform on which Senator John McCain ran for president. Namely, focus on jobs availability, pension portability, and using tax relief to help grow the economy (and
to protect what it calls "hardworking Americans") (Economy, 2008). The Republicans have always pointed out that tax cuts are the way to go (as opposed to spending) - and that
fighting against taxes is the way to ensure that the economy will remain strong (Economy, 2008). On the homeowner front, the party recommends
enforcement of open housing laws, voucher programs and - "a strong economy with low interest rates" (Economy, 2008). In other words, back to the tax code; "any simplified tax system
