a very favorable light by the media or individuals. Because of this, college students may be reluctant to consider a career as a political lobbyist. Id like to make a
presentation to your students that present the positive benefits of being a political lobbyist and the many different types of lobbyists there are.
Enclosed is a proposal of a presentation Id present to your students. Though not attached, I would develop a PowerPoint presentation to also focus on some of the factors
in this presentation. The points I hope to get across in this presentation are as follows: 1) Lobbying is an important part of
the democratic process, and through participation, lobbyists can influence legislation. 2) Lobbying requires people skills and persuasion, both of which are valuable skills
anyone needs in life. 3) Though there are dishonest and corrupt lobbyists, most lobbyists are involved in the field, not for the money
(though salaries can approach six figures), but because of their passion for helping legislators make the right decisions. 4) Though education is important
when it comes to lobbying, political science isnt necessary - lobbyists have backgrounds ranging from communications and public relations to economics. 5)
Developing networks is important when it comes to lobbying - again, this is where the people skills come into play. Professor, all that
