certain portions of it. Others would expound upon the ideas presented in Platos Arguments and then offer their own versions or alternatives. Aristotle was one of the latter philosophers and
as such produced his own ideas about Platos philosophy as presented in his works. Aristotle lived from 384-322 B.C. and was a pupil of Platos Academy(Aristotle 2002). He went
on to broaden what Plato had begun in the study of politics and theories, but his greatest contributions came from the founding of his own Lyceum where he offered a
broader spectrum of subjects ranging from a study of biology to mathematics(Aristotle 2002). His discussions and hypothesis about cause and effect, scientific classifications, and discoveries about matter and form were
the basis upon which much future thoughts, experiments, and future discoveries would be based(Aristotle 2002). Aristotles Politics is a comprehensive examination of the origins and structure of the state. Aristotle
tended, like Plato, to think that there was a need for a division of labor and is the chief cause of a formation of a society(Aristotle, 1979, Politics I, 2)
But Aristotle did not agree with Platos ideas about communal living and instead agreed that while there should be some communal property kept for the good of all, people should
also be allowed to have their own private property. In Aristotles belief, man is inherently born sinful. Because of this sinful
nature, we are not perfect, but may gain insight and attain virtue by practicing virtuous acts and abstaining from vices. When one thinks of virtues, the common varieties of courage,
