something gone wrong. In particular, vaginal bleeding can signal something seriously wrong with the placenta. In this paper, we will examine symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of two possible placenta disorders,
placenta abruption, and placenta previa. If a placenta is harmed or shifted in any way during gestation, this can result in
severe consequences for both mother and child. The placenta, after all, is the babys link to practically everything; it is the tissue that ensures nourishment, as well as oxygen for
proper cell development of the growing fetus. If this is interfered with in any way through any kind of placental disorder, the fetus life, not to mention the mothers, could
be in danger. The definition of placental abruption is the "premature separation of a normally implanted placenta" (The Placenta, 2002), normally implanted
signifying that the placenta is high up on the uterine wall, where it should be. Abruption is a relatively common occurrence, occurring in approximately 1 in 120 births and can
be accounted for approximately 15 percent of perinatal mortality (Angelini and Menihan, 1996). The diagnosis of placental abruption, i.e., when the placenta
has somehow been misplaced or somewhat detached from the wall of the uterus, can have as a main symptom vaginal bleeding (Placenta, 2002), which is why the caveat at the
