program of study, a student is really cutting away many of the potentials for self discovery and opportunity. The Liberal Arts degree provides the student with a great potential for
personal growth as well as contributes to the greater opportunity for professional happiness. The pressure that a student is under to decide a major in college is enormous. Parents, authority
figures, teachers, and even other students constantly ask if a student has declared their major. What this serves to do is force a person into choosing a major even though
the reality is that the person may just not have found that which he/she is passionate enough about from which to base a career. Most of the people who are
now in the workforce will tell you that they are not working in the field in which they majored. Why is this one has to wonder? Is it because they
were forced into taking a certain curricular path before they were ready? Or was it because they chose a career that was too narrow in its definitions and thus highly
competitive? One has to think that those obtaining a liberal arts degree are not confined by the limitations of a box with a title, but rather are liberated from
wasting loads of time on issues, classes, and majors which do not suite them. Granted, there are those requisite courses that everyone must take, and that, generally speaking, everyone bellyaches
