Monthly Fixed Maintenance vs. Variable Maintenance (Visual Fit Method) This first question requires that we find the monthly fixed maintenance cost and variable maintenance cost per driver unit using the visual-fit method, based on each potential cost driver. According to the case study, the information we are given is the annual salary of the maintenance mechanic at $25,000 -- which is considered a fixed cost. However, we are not given much more of a breakdown than that. The visual fit method is less of the calculation and more of and "eyeball" method. By using the cost driver of units produced, we can estimate at the highest and, a cost approximately $26,000 to produce a little more than 3000 units, while it cost only approximately $20,000 to produce closer to 4000 units.
