A 5 page paper discussing some of the problems that DuPont faced in implementing a team structure and giving a general overview of the added value that the team approach can bring. Employees can recognize the advantage to the company if they take a more active role in designing the work processes in which they are directly involved. There was a great deal of mistrust in the early days in all organizations attempting to make the transition to a team orientation, and not all businesses that attempted it were successful with it. The same is true today, but the full and open communication advocated by Deming (1986) contributes to successful team formation and function. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
