decision to do so does not make everyone happy. Further, there are a great deal of issues a business must consider in weighing their decision in this area. There are
a variety of factors which may lead companies to decide to make use of outsourcing as well as the reverse. A large part of the decision would depend upon current
staffing, including the extent of their technical knowledge. For companies that do not feel their staff has the capability of handling information systems tasks, outsourcing may be the better option.
On the other hand, a company with a high caliber technology staff may want to keep projects in house for a variety of reasons. These will all be explored in
detail but include increased employee morale and other personnel issues. There are pros and cons to outsourcing. Some risks include the mere fact that information is being allowed beyond
closed company doors. In other words, top secret information could leak quicker if anything is farmed out. While there is always a risk in terms of confidentiality, even in terms
of a firms own employees, risk becomes greater when information leaves the company. Further, contracts are made with employees so employers are afforded some protection. Problems such as insider trading,
for example, sometimes results when a firms financial situation is made known to another company. However, while there are risks to outsourcing, there are also a great deal of benefits.
