in outpatient mental health services in rural communities. Within the scope of rural health care, mental health services are being provided in
the primary care sector. In rural communities, this can mean that services are provided in primary care practices or in emergency departments, especially when patients utilize emergency departments as
their primary care system (Gale et al., 2010). Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) have become an important component of the model for providing mental health services for rural communities.
As a result, RHCs have begun employing psychologists and clinical social workers as a part of their outpatient clinical model (Gale et al., 2010). While it might seem
counterintuitive, a larger percentage of adults in the rural setting require mental health services than in urban populations (Ziller, Anderson & Coburn, 2010). Ziller, Anderson and Coburn (2010)
maintained that there is a greater need for in rural communities for general mental health services and substance abuse services, as well as a greater degree of mental health prescription
use. At the same time, the focus on methods for the provision of services is limited and clinical outpatient programs are infrequently applied to the model for service in
the rural community (Ziller, Anderson & Coburn, 2010). Since the 1980s, efforts have been made to address the problem
of mental health services in rural communities. It was readily recognized that there was a lack of mental health services in rural communities and a lack of access to
