The impact of a fall at home may be even more serious, there may not be someone to help when the fall occurs and the impact on coping with everyday activities may be far reaching. Problem Focus May falls are preventable, so it may be argued that a home care agency has both a duty of care to the patients and an ethical duty to help maintain the health of the patients. PTHC cares for a wide range of patients in their own home. It is the aim of the organization to promote health and well being with a personalized service; this is a part of the PTHC mission statement. The problem faced by PTHC is an increased incidence rate of falls over recent month. The fall rate has increased; the incidence rate has risen from 15% to 35%. The problem is the increase in the rate of falls and a need to reduce the incidence rate. At the current time there is no universal intervention program within the organization. Research has indicated that interventions following the individual assessment of patients can have a significant impact on reducing the incidence of falls (Lord et al, 2005).
