One example of this has been the Dutch company; Oticon Corp., the firm which is over a century old has adapted and developed a paperless office. It may be argued that the firm had an affinity with the use of up to date technology as they were involved in cutting edge technology for hearing solutions such as hearing aids (Oticon, 2009). The decision to move to a paperless system, where the only paper that is seen is in transparent pipeline after it is shredded and is travelling down to the basement where it will be recycled (Wallace, 2000). There is a mail room, this is the one room here there is paperwork; the letters that come are all dealt with by the employees in that room before they are shredded (Wallace, 2000). The integration has been extensive across the entire organization for example the use of the Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 to integrate the financial systems and records and system across the global operations (Microsoft, 2009). If a system, is going to be paperless it is essential that it is up to date. There are many benefits of becoming paperless and following an integrated strategy, other firms and organizations have sought to use the same model of integration.
