others to the point where their lives are essentially lost. They are men that are the pawns of their plays and men who surely demonstrate a lack of strength and
rational thought which leads to their demise. The following paper examines the two men and their characteristics and then discusses if the two could have been friends. Othello
and Macbeth As mentioned, Othello and Macbeth are both men who are weak in a sense that they fall victim to those who play them as pawns. With Othello he
has faith in Iago who only uses him for his own ends. With Macbeth we have a man who does everything his wife tells him, essentially never showing strength or
backbone until the end of the play when it is too late. Othello and Macbeth are both powerful men in their own right. They are leaders of one sort
or another, and they are men that others often admire. But, with the manipulation of the two truly powerful individuals, Iago and Lady Macbeth, these men find themselves to be
less than leadership material. And, the reason for these weaknesses is their desire. Othello wants his wife to love him more than anything else in the world. He is a
man who feels isolated and alone in that he is different than those around him. He truly has no real friends and thus his wife serves as his one source
of happiness it seems. As such he quickly falls under Iagos spell of lies, and essentially kills his wife for being unfaithful, though she never was unfaithful to him. As
