focus and victim of one resentful and vengeful and jealous person; Iago. Through the influence of Iago Othello begins to fear the unfaithfulness of his wife Desdemona and ultimately kills
her. The following paper examines why Othello really killed Desdemona. Othello In the beginning of the play the reader or audience is introduced to Othello and it is
clear that he is a foreigner, a black man, who is a powerful man in his own country, a prince. Yet he is an outsider in the new realm. He
has also married the daughter of a powerful man. Then, there is Iago, a man who apparently has not gotten to any position of power and a man obsessed with
Desdemona. As such he takes it upon himself to subversively attack the world of Othello, weakening him and causing his demise. Othello, in the beginning, is deeply in love with
Desdemona and seems a noble and strong man. But, it may well also be that he is a good leader and soldier but not a very intelligent man when it
comes to relationships. He begins to slowly believe Iago when he constantly gives him information that would indicate that Desdemona is being unfaithful. Everything that Iago says to him cannot
really be proven wrong, and the only thing that Othello has to go on is really the word of his wife who he ultimately disbelieves. By the time the
play gets to the point where Othello will murder Desdemona he is completely lost and confused. He is angry, if what he has heard is true. He feels possibly betrayed,
and he feels that his manhood has perhaps been challenged if she is really unfaithful. There is, almost till the end, a sense that he wants to believe her but
