They cause violence and, in many instances death. Drug traffickers use firearms in their business operations, which is a form of organized crime. Gangs use firearms in their gang related activity, which is also a form of organized crime. Mobsters have been notorious for using firearms in shootouts with other mobsters. Gun control is just as necessary as drug control. Without guns those involved in organized crime would be less violent, and less apt to kill someone. The subject of gunrunning, to some, brings the image of moonshiners attempting to get away from the Revenuers. Moonshining was an illegal activity that involved making whiskey and selling that whiskey. Guns were involved in this type of crime. When the moonshiner could not out run the Revenuer, he/she would shoot at him/her. To others, the subject of gunrunning brings images of Al Capone or other crime lords. Guns and illegal activity went hand and hand. Controlling of firearms would help in controlling other illegal activities that fall under the category of organized crime. It would result in less deaths or injuries. Even gang activity is considered organized crime. Everyone has heard of a "drive by."
