law is enforced in an equitable and just manner. The following research paper explores sources that offer guidance on how federal organized policy should be formulated. These sources
are summarized prior to offering policy recommendations. Public opinion While researching the topic of whether or not media coverage impacts public opinion on organized crime, Dubois and her research
team conducted an extensive review of "scientific articles and studies written by academic researchers, research groups and various agencies based in Canada, the United States and Europe" (Dubois, 2002, p.
5). In total, this research team investigated data banks that collectively contain over 26,000 scientific articles, yet were unable to locate any investigations or information that deals specifically with the
impact of media coverage of organized crime on pubic opinion (Dubois, 2002). Similarly, this writer/tutor was unable to locate recent statistics on public opinion regarding organized crime. In general, the
public desires media to provide "fair coverage of the facts" of a case, so that it becomes possible to formulate an informed opinion (Dubois, 2002, p. 18). As this indicates,
the reporters who were interviewed as part of Dubois study felt that media coverage of organized crime did have an influence on pubic opinion, but they were uncertain as to
