a proliferation of different organisational theories, however, in recent years by significant aspect of research in organisational theories has revealed a high level of repetition, with many ideas regurgitated and
reformulated, accompanied by a lack of rigour in much of the research (Davis, 2010; Edwards, 2010). Therefore, when looking at recent developments within organisational theory and the development of those
theories one of the first trains is an increasing level of criticism regarding the way in which theory is created and recognition of some of the problems. Davis, (2010), argues
that there are three main problems associated with undertaken organisational theory research. The first is the limitations caused by a lack of experimental control which may be exercised, which in
turn limits the ability to make calls interferences, the second is the way in which organisations are often perceived, often modelled as tools instead of "natural objects" to which rules
may apply (Davis, 2010). The third is the difficulties caused by the way in which organisational dynamics will change and evolve over time, which may result in some generalisations being
correct for some future time, but incorrect for others (Davis, 2010). This means that when looking at current trends in theory there are significant limitations, and the most common approaches
appear to be building on existing theories in order to better than, as well as the trend to develop meta-theories or create a more holistic approach to organisational studies. Organisational
studies cover a wide spectrum of issues, including the way in which the organisation itself is perceived, as well as many issues that impact on the way in which the
