is sensed rather than observed and described. Gareth Morgan suggested that it is "The set of beliefs, values, and norms, together with symbols like dramatized events and personalities,..." (Organizational Culture,
2007). Together these reflect the unique culture for any organization. The culture also includes norms of behavior and the values that are emphasized. This is reflected in Edgar Scheins definition.
Schein has studied organizational culture for years. He defined organizational culture as "A pattern of shared basic assumptions that the group learned as it solved its problems that has worked
well enough to be considered valid and is passed on to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those problems" (Organizational Culture, 2007).
It is a little long in terms of a definition but most theorists offer at least one paragraph to explain the concept of organizational culture. The culture is embedded in
the organization and it is extremely difficult to change. It guides what people do and how they do it. Cultures may evolve over time as the external and internal
environments influence it but it takes a great deal to change it. Organizational Behavior There are also multiple definitions for the concept of organizational behavior. Schermerhorn and co-authors
