Scholars assert that it is the responsibility for the principal as leader to provide the scaffolding can highly influence how conflict resolution occurs within their organizations. Historically, the field
of educational leadership has been grounded in the management theories of Frederick Taylor, which advocate a paradigm of formal bureaucratic managerial control (Doyle, 2004). This began to change in
the 1970s and 89s, as new model for effective schools began to emerge n the literature, which defined the role of school principal more in terms of leadership than as
a factory manager (Doyle, 2004). This new paradigm involves building schools as learning communities rather than following out-dated hierarchical structures that have been shown to initiate declines in overall organizational
health (Doyle, 2004). However, changing tactics can be difficult to some schools principals and other organizational administrators who have functioned as their organizations primary decision-maker throughout their careers. This change
affects various aspects of the role of organizational leader. As this is a complex subject, the following investigation will focus primarily on the factor of the leaders role in organizational
conflict resolution in order to determine how principals can best adapt to the challenges and expectations of the twenty-first century. Methodology : Literature review Callanan and Perri point out
that conflict is "an inevitable feature of organizational and social life" (Callanan and Perri, 2006, p. 131). Organizational conflict, as the term implies, refers to differences of opinion and other
