Obviously, there will always arise situations that involve legal compliance, but some might contend that certain legal activities are unethical. Managers and company executives in various industries face ethical dilemmas
every day. Some involve money and whether or not to blow the whistle on a higher level employee who might be stealing for example. Other ethical dilemmas involve actual work
being done or the defrauding of the consumer. In addressing the issue of ethical conduct, how does Microsoft fare? Everyone loves to hate Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft. Of course,
the truth is that he is responsible for creating a great deal of software used today, and while some criticize his overbearing nature which translates to a monopolization of the
industry, others think that his participation is key to growth. Microsoft as a firm is strong, and its CEO today is Steve Ballmer. Gates role will fade and as Microsoft
goes on, it will retain certain rules and regulations that are designed to make it not only strong, but an ethical firm as well. What is the Code of Ethics
that Microsoft lives by? Microsoft supports several ethical codes in various facets of the organization. At its web site for example, it provides a general ethical code under the heading
