good work ethic, and always meets the head offices financial expectations. However, by her own admission, she gives 110% and expects everyone who works for her to do the
same. She allows no deviation from the rules, and when employees came up with a new idea to improve customer service on their own, she quashed the idea and
fired the employees, because their project didnt conform to company "rules". Her unit does well financially, but she has a higher than average employee turnover. Looking at the case
objectively, its immediately clear why she wasnt promoted: she has no people skills and in addition is a slaved river who wont listen to anyones input but her own.
Apparently, one of her supervisors told Diana she had to work on this, but she felt that as long as her restaurant was profitable, that was enough. She
was absolutely wrong. Hiring and training new employees is any organizations single biggest expense, and as a manager Diana should know that. When her employees are so unhappy with
her that theyd rather leave than try and work things out, she has a serious problem. But she doesnt seem to recognize it. She may be meeting her
financial quotas, but her performance is still undesirable; her failure to win promotion should be a wake-up call for her. However, Diana has a tendency to blame others for her
problems. She applied for the job previously and wasnt promoted; her rationale in that case was that it was "office politics" that gave the job to someone else.
