under a cloud and she had been very unhappy at her treatment. She has suffered from harassment from one of her colleagues and had approached her line manager. A cursory
discussion had taken place and very little else had happened. Other issues arose with which she was uncomfortable and any ideas she had were shot down without consideration. When she
saw the advertisement for this job she had jumped at the chance. When she gained an interview job she decided that honesty would be the best policy and when asked
why she wished to leave her present employer. The response she got surprised her. After being told not to worry, things didnt operate like that here it was explained to
her that this company had a completely different culture, and that the way things were done here was completely different. I.
The Concept of Culture The culture of a company is the way in which it operates on an interpersonal level. It is
an intangible which can be difficult to isolate. Just as when travelling the world cultural differences can be seen between the diverse countries characteristics the same is true of companies
and organisations. The interpretation of it may vary form person to person and organisation to organisation, however, when entering an organisation it is often possible to identify aspects of its
