are grown without the use of chemicals that are believed to be bad for people. However, many believe that because of the large scale needs of organic farming, and the
use of different methods of keeping pests off of food, organic foods are not necessarily any better for an individual. The following paper examines, based on information available, whether or
not eating organic fruits and vegetables are actually better for a person. Organic Foods The first article to be examined comes from the UK. Under the assumption that
the same procedures, and research methods, are utilized as would be in the United States, and with an understanding that an outside source is beneficial in such a topic, it
is noted that, "In our view the current scientific evidence does not show that organic food is any safer or more nutritious than conventionally produced food" (Food Standards Agency, 2007).
As can be seen this organization is similar to the FDA in the United States. They indicate that a recent publication concluded how there is really no difference in the
safety of the food or the nutritional value of the food when it is organic (Food Standards Agency, 2007). This organization also
notes a Swedish report, put out by their National Food Administration, that noted "no nutritional benefits of organic food" (Food Standards Agency, 2007). However, this author also notes that in
good conscience they must also be open to further research which may indicate otherwise (Food Standards Agency, 2007). Another article, which also
comes from the UK, indicates that "Organic fruit and vegetables may be better for the heart and general health than eating conventionally grown crops, new research has found" (Elliott, 2007).
