services to the pure logistics of how to best respond to individual patient needs. The extraordinary cost of medical procedures today has introduced many of these concerns. Limited medical
resources coupled with an exploding world population have introduced other concerns. The intent of this paper is to explore one facet of modern medicine and its ethical, philosophical, and
moral considerations. That facet is organ transplantation and the black market that has sprung up in response to it. The international selling of organs to meet the call
of the highest bidder is of particular concern in this issue. Modern medicine does indeed encompass wondrous capabilities. The ability to transplant organs
from the body of one human being to that of another is perhaps one of the greatest of those wonders. This ability is a miracle to say the least.
Anyone who has had the opportunity to spend time with a transplant recipient that has been gifted a kidney, liver or even a heart; cannot help but appreciate the
phenomenal accomplishments that have evolved in modern medicine. While at one time transplantation was a crude process and one resulted in limited survival rates, today organ transplantation is at
its peak of success. Indeed, ones chances of surviving an organ transplant have improved tremendously over time. Obviously, when a loved one is on the receiving end of
