There waste solution which has been proposed for dealing with the case supplied by the student has three options, these are to
add more dumpsters; to add trash removal as an apartment amenity or to outsource a door to door trash collection service. Each has different associated costs and benefits involved. The
associated costs and benefits may be seen as related to the level of services each option provides. When examining these options a range of factors, not only cost, need to
be considered. These influences have been researched from a range of US sources. Adding More Dumpsters In looking at the case provided by the student there is a
problem with the current situation and the provision of a single dumpster. Of all the options adding more dumpsters may be interpreted as the most cost effective; the level of
labour is low as the residents have to take the waste to the dumpster. Here the collection costs will be marginal as a collection already takes place, it will be
the additional dumpster cost only. This means that the dumpster option will take advantage of economies of scale. The current situation is one where there is reluctance on the
part of the residents to take their rubbish to the dumpster. However, with only one dumpster allocated to 366 apartments the level of provision is well below that which is
