place of Ophelia in Hamlet. Ophelia in Shakespeares Hamlet The student requesting this paper presents the following quote from Ophelia, a
quote that puts her in a particular position within the play: "Then up he rose and donned his clothes, And dupped the chamber door; Let in the maid, that out
a maid Never departed more" (Shakespeare IV v). At this particular point in the play Ophelia has gone mad. It is really the last scene in which the viewer/reader
sees Ophelia alive and it is a very powerful statement in relationship to informing the reader/viewer who Ophelia is, and the place of Ophelia.
In this particular excerpt one sees that Ophelia feels she has been nothing more than a whore for Hamlet. She feels that she has been used by him
and she has truly become so confused that she has gone mad. She has lost his love, or the belief in his love, and loses her mind, ultimately committing suicide.
This will sorrow Hamlet greatly and make him feel guilty, perhaps the only time he feels guilty, in his actions towards her.
Prior to this Ophelia is seen as a very loyal and kind woman. She is obedient in relationship to her father and her brother, and she is a good and
