to recruit in an effective and cost efficient manner must be seen as a pulling force (Menagh , 1999, Thompson, 1998). Locating potentially employees can be difficult, the labour market
has been shrinking as the baby boomer generation get older and the birth rate droops, new skills are required and the individuals with the right skills may live across diverse
regions, where a single newspaper advertising campaign or radio campaign will not locate those with the correct skills or qualifications. The internet has no boarders, as such as company in
California may advertise for a staff member and the advertisement may be seen by someone in New York the same day. Therefore there is increase access to the potential audience.
However, this is not right for all positions, for example, a small company needing a part time secretary will not want to advertise for one nationally, as relocations is not
a realistic scenario for this position, whereas a company seeking an experienced managing director, or specialist such as a geophysicist, may need to advertise on this scale. The use of
technology is also a easier way to receive applications though e mail. We need to recognise the limitations of this form of recruitment, those which are
likely to be left out of the potential audience are the older workers that were not brought up with computers and those in the non technical jobs as well as
