has many benefits, there are also associated costs. To appreciate this we can look at the different aspects. The benefits of OJT
start with the effectiveness of the system in terms of cost and time (Training & Development, 2000). The employees being trained are not taken out of there workplace and
additional training facilities are not needed. In the case of Piccadilly the system the first weeks sees the trainee shadowing the coach, meaning that there is no disruption of the
usual processes and then they are observed as they perform the following week. This is efficient as the job on which the staff member is being trained is not disrupted
and does not need to be covered while training takes place so training and productive work take place concurrently. OJT benefits also include training taking place in the environment
in which the job is to be performed, and where the staff are already employees this is also a familiar setting gives them a direct relevant experience in the job
and standards that are required. Where this is in the real situation the learning may be easier to take in and use as there is less transfer needed and in
cases where the producers may be difficult to remember or machinery is being used seeing rather than being told, and doing rather than just remembering can be very benefits (Training
