well as the culture of the new land that the characters must integrate within. We see many different perspectives through such examinations and while there seem to be numerous books
on this topic not all of them do an excellent job at offering the reader and enlightening and honest look at the people. In Lisa Sees book "On Golden Mountain"
we are given a very enlightening look at the Chinese culture and the integration of that Chinese culture into the American culture. In the following paper we review Sees book
discussing its theme and it positive attributes. On Golden Mountain As mentioned, there seem to be numerous books coming out which tell us of the acculturation of many
different people. In that respect one could perhaps argue that Sees book is not any more enlightening then say Amy Tans "Joy Luck Club." But, at the same time one
could argue the same about any genre of books. One could argue that enough has been written on Custer and the Civil War, but yet at the same time each
book seems to offer a different perspective and a different understanding. What makes such a book work, or not work, is not the subject matter so much as how the
subject matter is relayed. See, in this respect, does an excellent job at presenting people and their personal situations in a manner that transcends the cultural realities and informs us
about humanity in general. Therefor, from the perspective that many may argue in that too many books on families of culture are being written, this book offers an entertaining and
