Madame Delphine In this story, quite a complex story that cannot be fully summed up in a short space of time, the tale revolves primarily around Madame Delphine and
her daughter Olive. Madame Delphine is not a woman who is apparently openly accepting or acknowledging that Olive is her daughter, because of the circumstances around her conception. But, as
the story develops we see Madame Delphine give up all pretenses and beg for forgiveness from God for her sins and her neglect of Olive just before she dies.
Caf? de Exiles This story offers up a wealth of different characters that all seem to be misfits perhaps of one type or another, or so the title of
the story would suggest. The primary characters are Pauline and her father, the man who runs the caf?. Throughout the story we have some mystery and intrigue concerning a Cuban
who presents lies to the father in regards to Pauline and other people in the caf?. There is confusion about truth, with Pauline playing a central role. In the end,
however, Pauline comes out as the wife of the Irishman and the caf? seems to lose its charm and patronage. Belles Demoiselles Plantation We are given a fine
and pleasant image of a family on this plantation: "Truly they were a family fine enough, and fancy-free enough to have fine wishes, yet happy enough where they were, to
have had no wish but to live there always" (Cable 126). The conflict is over changing locations, making a trade, which seems to spell the end of this pleasant image
of the family and their plantation. "Posson Jone" This tale offers a look at a town and a man during one specific time. The focus is on money,
