actually approve or reject these motions. Although there are some minor differences between states, reasons for a change of venue center on the question of whether or not the defendant
will have a fair trial. Massive publicity prior to the trial can lead to a change of venue because it is believed that all residents have been prejudiced by the
publicity (Wests Encyclopedia of American Law, 2008). Judges do not like to grant a request for a change of venue. It can cause a lot of upset and makes it
can make it more difficult to bring in witnesses. It is very costly and inconvenient (Wests Encyclopedia of American Law, 2008). If the judge believes that the defendant can not
receive a fair trial, he or she will generally order the change (Wests Encyclopedia of American Law, 2008). On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh and his collaborators bombed the
federal office building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The bombing killed 168 people and injured many more. The lawyers for Timothy J. McVeigh and Terry L. Nichols submitted a motion to
