and abilities they may possess, simply fail lifes social and economical tests as well as many others. How one goes about earning a living varies
greatly in that which we consider to be moral and ethical values as well as legal principles and restrictions which differ greatly between societies. The core element of earning
a living is survival. Whether in an educationally-based society, or one where physical "survival of the fittest" is the predominant human nature; the inability to properly earn a living
either directly from ones self or indirectly from others, will lead to poverty and eventual death. In Homers ancient Greek story, "The Odyssey", Odysseus
maintains a certain view of what Homer apparently considered to be acceptable human behavior in regard to "earning a living", (so to speak), or to survive through his ten-year journey.
Through various displays of characters and almost mystical beings, I feel as though Homer felt like "anything goes" in terms of what one must do to survive, yet through
the examples of the main characters, a certain amount of wit and common intelligence is necessary to possess as an essential work tool in earning a living.
Odysseus clearly demonstrated himself as a character of massive endurance and tenacity. There seemed to be nothing that he would not endure without some sort of stride.
It was apparent that no obstacle or setback could keep him from pursuing his goal and returning to his wife. Against all odds, Odysseus would do battle on
