center, and block center. In each of the learning centers, materials are displayed and are of a high quality and constructed of bright colors. The materials are easy
to reach, so that each child can initiate an activity in one of the learning centers. At the same time, the color and nature of many of these materials
make them a distraction for children with special needs. Most of the classroom is carpeted, except for areas where cleaning could be difficult, including the housekeeping center and the art
center. These centers have a sink for clean-up, while the carpeted areas are away from the sink and other water sources. The carpeted centers have comfortable chairs, but
do not have cushions for the children when these sit on the floor. The schedule utilized in the classroom setting took into
consideration the need for appropriate transitions and was well constructed. This consisted of the following time-table: 8-8:30 Breakfast and clean-up 8:30-9 Group time 9-10 Outdoor play time
and hand washing 10-10:30 Snack and clean-up 10:30-11:30 Small group and free play 11:30-12 Language and story 12-1 Lunch and clean up The educators directed transition from one
activity to another through verbal communication, but physical assistance was sometimes provided for children who had difficulty with cleaning tasks for transitions. The outdoor space uncluttered and open and the
children benefit from the ability to see activities, distinguish a clear pathway to that activity, and participate. This is clearly different from the activity centers in the classroom, which
