a fledgling area of psychology, organizational theory these days attempts to provide many answers to the question of how - and why - organizations behave in the way they do.
In this paper, well present an overall explanation of organizational theory, describe types of organizational theory models, then examine two companies in the
same industry from an organizational theory lens. What is Organizational Theory? To understand organizational theory it would first be helpful to understand the
definition of organizations. Organizational theory involves "a structured social system consisting of groups of individuals working together to meet some agreed-on objectives" (Barzilai). Along those lines, organizational theory involves studying
organizations to identify common themes to help solve problems, maximize efficiency - and meet stakeholders needs (Barzilai). Furthermore, organizational theory (OT) studies three topics: Individual processes, group processes and organizational
processes (Barzilai). During the past several decades, a variety of OT theories have been introduced by academicians and business researchers. But to keep
