We will examine the potential operating model applied to Tack N Ride, a fictitious organization. As we dont have information other than the name (nor are
we certain about the product), well provide an example discussion below as to what type of operating model would be implemented with this particular company. For purposes of this paper,
well select the optimized core architecture. In other words, Tack N Ride is at the stage of maturity at which the organization has extended commonality between component businesses by integrating
the technology, applications and data needed to run the businesses. Activities such as purchasing, accounting, sales and so on are conducted via a common application, through a central database.
How do we gain even greater maturity for our IT capabilities, moving from the optimized core architecture, in which the platform is
centralized, to the business modularity architecture, the stage in which the organization can add a new component and implement the technologies and processes into the system without skipping a beat?
Ambler (2007) suggests that a multi-view approached be taken for any type of architecture and not be limited to a single "right"
view that a vendor (or company) might be trying to sell. Amblers believe, as well, is that organizations such as Tack N Ride certainly need to think about the future
