While many are team players who enjoy working together for the good of a company, everyone is basically out for his or her own edification, raise, praise and so on. Part of this can be gotten from Hofstedes cultural awareness map; the United States tends to receive a fairly high "masculine" rating on this particular issue, with masculine ratings moving more toward independence, as opposed to communal. The idea of working in groups and receiving group rewards is more along the lines of what Asian societies practice, in terms of "all for one and one for all." Explain the differences between job rotation and job enrichment and analyze the relative advantages of these two approaches in organizations. Job rotation and job enrichment were both the brainchilds of industrial psychologist Herzberg, who claimed that if employees did the same things over and over again, they would ultimately become quite bored with their jobs (Accel-Team, 2005). Job rotation, which was tested, at first, at IBM, uses the theory that employees can and should learn different skill sets within their basic jobs.
