be an adult will be vastly different than another persons perspective or belief on the matter. Nonetheless, there are certain characteristics that all adults share. The student may wish, when
creating his/her own paper, to make a list of various tasks and responsibilities, outlooks on life that an adult has versus that of a child. For example, when one is
an adult one is more aware of the dangers that exist in the world. With any family unit, be it a human beings family or a mountain lions family, the
adults make certain that the young ones do not come to any harm. In the human world, protecting the younger children in the family is typically what makes one
adult. There is a responsibility for others besides oneself. As an adult one acknowledges that fact that there are other people who must be considered when making a decision or
adopting a course of action. Children, typically, do not consider anyone but themselves and in general it is this lack of ability to foresee dangerous consequences that often places young
human beings into jeopardy. Thus, adults have a responsibility to use their ability for higher reasoning and abstract thought to protect the younger members of the family, and society.
