been asked to develop a research plan for an olive-oil based soap that will be introduced to U.S. markets. What well do here is examine the research tools to be
used in building a marketing plan for the olive oil soap. First well examine the industry from already published reports, then discuss what types of research tools well use to
obtain further information. PRODUCT/INDUSTRY OVERVIEW This type of soap would be in the consumer products industry, more specifically, personal care products. Some
of this products competition would include Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Alberto Culver and Colgate-Palmolive Inc. Most of these companies are international, with an extraordinarily strong foothold in the
United States. Personal care products are typically used for health and hygiene, and ranges from soap and body scrub, to tooth brush
and tongue cleaners, to talcum powder, skin cream and moisturizers (Fashion Products, 2008). Also included in this category are hair and nail products (Fashion Products, 2008). The major demand
