The topic requested is an obesity program and, in this paper, the focus is on a program that is being introduced into a workplace. The workplace in question is a
newspaper office. The program focuses on a three-pronged approach, combining proper nutrition, exercise and behavioral changes. As such, employees meet with a nutritionist
once a month to discuss meal planning and challenges. There is also a discounted membership to Weight Watchers involved. Employees are provided with free membership to the local fitness club
that is in the same building. Finally, the company has formed a "walking group" that meets daily to walk a mile or two at a local mall. This is not
to suggest that employees will be subjected to rigorous diet and exercise. A meeting with a nutritionist would, for example, focus on what types of lunches would be best during
deadline days and compare a lunch from home with the costs of a lunch from, say, McDonalds. The programs short-term goal is
weight loss and maintenance (the goal is for the office to lose a combined total of 10 pounds a month). Another goal is to increase physical movement among all employees
by 5% each week. Longer-term goals focus on reductions in absenteeism and illness which, in turn, will lead to a reduction in insurance premiums and other costs associated with an
overweight workforce. The reason why I selected this particular program is because obesity in the workplace is shown to have a dire
