the following. Discussion I have two fathers: my biological father and my step father, and Im lucky because they both love me very much. However, they are as different as
night and day in their appearance, personalities, interests, and recreational activities. My biological father is named Jeff, and hes from New York City. Hes 41 years old as of this
writing, and single. Hes could be considered wild, or very liberal, or open minded, depending on whos doing the talking. He grew up on the streets and was in and
out of jail on a regular basis. He was running with a pretty rough crowd and was a gang member for a while, until he joined the Navy. After
training, he was stationed in Virginia, which is where he met my mom. They were married soon after they met but things were tough for Jeff because the Navy passed
him over for promotion and he became resentful and began to drink. Almost everyone drinks in the service-its expected; people smoke too-its all part of growing up, I guess. But
he couldnt stop at one or two, it was a real problem for him and he became an alcoholic. When he was drinking he was completely out of control, and
one night he lost it and beat up my mom. She knew he was a good guy deep down, and so do I, but when he was drinking it was
just too unpredictable and she couldnt stand being around him, and she didnt want me near him either. She was a victim of domestic violence, and was able to get
