to a vastly different case. An example would be caring for a geriatric patient with diabetes and then, caring for a child with asthma. Rosenthal (2000) explained this as having
fluid roles which require a great deal of flexibility. Another of the many differences is that in urban settings, a nurse may never take care of a person they
know but in a rural setting, the nurse is likely to know many of the patients she treats (Rosenthal, 2000). Caring theories including those from Roach, Leininger, and Watson are
a good place to start. From these, this house supervisor has selected Jean Watsons theory as the emphasis. Watsons theory is about transpersonal human caring and it is developmental

person (Fawcett, 2002). It is this developmental process in Watsons model that make it an excellent choice for a rural hospital in a small town where many of the people
