This is a qualitative study aimed at discovering attitudes and perceptions among women who have had heart surgery. Title and Abstract The title,
"Social role quality, physical health, and psychological well-being in women after heart surgery," contains the qualities that Plach and Heidrich (2002) sought to investigate with their study. The title
makes no distinction as to the researchers qualifications for conducting the study. The authors abstract is a complete one, opening with a point
of theory, and then identifying the characteristics they seek to assess. The abstract provides enough information about the sample size and distribution to allow the reader to determine that
the study is large enough to be statistically significant and may directly apply to womens progress after heart surgery. The authors also provide concise statements of their findings and
conclusions, as well as information that they subjected collected data to statistical analyses. Problem Statement and Purpose The "purpose of this study was
to examine whether womens social roles mediate the impact of heart surgery on their psychological well-being" (Plach and Heidrich, 2002; p. 190). The
