As can be seen in my application materials, I have been involved in nursing continuously after completing a BSN in 1981. I am a co-founder of the St. Louis
Center for Bioethics and Culture, of which I have been the Associate Director since 2001. To date, my career also includes direct experience as a practicing nurse in the
hospital setting; a nurse manager of agency nurses; an administrative manager for a surgical practice; an educator at the university level; and a policy analyst and volunteer lobbyist.
Each step of my career has appeared to be in the direction of broader focus, but in reality, each of those steps was leading me
to a quite narrow focus but from the broader perspective of the multidisciplinary approach. That evolution culminated with the creation of the St. Louis Center for Bioethics and Culture,
an organization that limits its activities to medical ethics within a multidisciplinary framework. Personal Career Goals As the entire health care industry continues
to evolve into a form that does not yet exist, this is an appropriate time to ask those questions that have the ability to identify emerging trends and changes in
basic assumptions surrounding specific topics. My short-term goals include developing Consultants in Complex Neurodisability, a health care consulting firm that will "provide specialized assessment and treatment and rehabilitation referral
options for patients with very severe brain injury and their families."1 Long-term goals include expanding teaching at the university level and conducting active research in the area of the
