It is a tough, reward profession. Then, having granted that nursing is a demanding field, consider that the nurse administrator not only has to be an exemplary nurse, who stays current in all areas of nursing theory and practice, but also a business whiz, who can juggle budgeting concerns, employee schedules, while also keeping on top of all government regulations and a hundred other details. As the following examination of the role of the nurse administrator will demonstrate, this is one of the toughest jobs in management.
