in which our parents had known. Further, the writings in this book explain how the world has changed and along with the change in the world, particularly as it relates
to business, how the role of the union has also been altered. But the book is more about revitalization. The problem as some of the authors perceive it is that
AFL-CIO is under new leadership. To many, the new leadership is not adequate. It is a problem because with the changing role of the union, there is a loss of
power in such movements in general. Thus, while the book is about one very powerful union, it is about all unions and overall, how things have changed for people involved
in trades or professions that enjoys protection by a union. The problem primarily affects union members but what one might surmise by reading between the lines is that this
problem affects everyone. What can someone say about a society that offers no protection for its workers? What can one say about a society that caters to the rich and
ignores the plight of those trying to make a living by getting their hands dirty? The answer is dismal and the book Not Your Fathers Union Movement : Inside the
AFL-CIO, compiled by Jo-Ann Mort, exemplifies that sentiment. Of course, each writing presented has a different attitude to an extent. But overall, the book is certainly pro-union. In looking
at the problem, it is easy to simply spout typical union rhetoric and another to back up claims with facts, figures and case studies. Such evidence, as contained in the
