noise they generate when in concert. The following paper examines one legal act involving regulation of noise, the Noise Control Act of 1972. The paper summarizes it and then provides
a reaction. Noise Control Act of 1972 "The Noise Pollution and Abatement Act of 1972...is a statute of the United States
initiating a federal program of regulating noise pollution with the intent of protecting human health and minimizing annoyance of noise to the general public" (Wikipedia, 2006). This means that the
federal government is set up as the main entity that will decide if noise is dangerous based on research and other information such as various studies. It indicates that they
are responsible for ensuring that information which indicates a noise level is dangerous is utilized in order to reduce or eliminate the dangerous noise. In light of this brief
information it seems that the federal government is not only in charge of handling noise problems but also responsible for defining noise problems through research and studies. It is assumed
that many organizations, perhaps the EPA, is involved as well in order to ensure that the public is not hurt through excessive or dangerous noise. It can also be assumed
that court cases would be involved in making such determinations as they involve this particular act. In terms of reaction, this writer/researcher understands that noise can be very damaging
